Bitcoin Halving Countdown
Estimated countdown to the 5th Bitcoin Halving (Block 1,050,000)
What is the Bitcoin Halving?
The Bitcoin Halving is a pre-programmed event written into the Bitcoin protocol source code that occurs every 210,000 blocks (roughly every 4 years). During this event, the reward given to miners for validating blocks is reduced by exactly 50%. This mechanism limits the rate at which new Bitcoins are generated, reinforcing its supply cap of 21 million coins and rendering Bitcoin a deflationary financial asset.
